Highlights from our March Sake Tasting Experience 🌸

The cherry blossoms may not bloom in Singapore, but that didn’t stop us from bringing the Hanami spirit to life! A throwback to March this year, we hosted a vibrant and intimate sake tasting session where attendees were treated to a free-flow tasting session of over 30 different sakes, shochu, and liqueur.

The mood was lively and cheerful as attendees shared their thoughts on the sakes, and chatted with our sommeliers, who were there to explain the different types and stories behind each sake. Whether it was their first time or they were experienced drinkers, everyone felt comfortable and had a great time!

From light and floral to rich and full of umami, it was like a trip through Japan’s amazing world of sake. Many found new favourites and fun pairings they didn’t expect. Attendees were also the first to taste our newest arrivals, with some special brews shown to the local market for the very first time.

Some of the rarest sakes, usually only found at top Japanese restaurants, were specially brought in for this event. Attendees were thrilled to taste these exclusive sakes, many of which can’t be found in stores.

The Best-Seller & Top 3 Crowd-Favorites ✨

A true standout that captured the hearts of many, this sake quickly became the star of the event! The Okunomatsu George Black Junmai Daiginjyo Sake is an extremely delicate sake with an overpowering after-taste. The pure melon aroma is gently lifted by hints of soft nuttiness, while its silky, layered texture offers a smooth and refined tasting experience.

One of the clear highlights of the event was Hakkaisan 3 Years Snow Aged Junmai Daiginjyo Sake. It offered a tasting experience that left many returning for seconds! The sake is naturally chilled and gently aged in a snow storage room for 3 years. This results in a smooth and well-rounded taste, coupled with an elegant aroma and a cleansing finish.

Another crowd-pleaser was Tamano Hikari Junmai Daiginjyo Bizen Omachi Silver 3 Years, which stood out with its distinctive profile. Crafted from Omachi, the original sake rice. Slowly aged at low temperatures, it offers a deep, refined flavor with remarkable complexity. Many really enjoyed its rich, matured character!

Rounding out the list of favorites was Yamatan-Masamune Katana Junmai Daiginjyo Sake. Like a Katana (Japanese sword), this sake has a remarkable sharpness in flavour, which goes well with a variety of cuisine. Also, the bottle design with the Katana makes it an ideal gift.

What's Coming Next...?

While this event may be behind us, the excitement isn’t over just yet. Our next Sake Tasting Experience is coming soon on 5th July 2025! Mark your calendars and stay tuned to our Instagram @sakeinn for the latest updates!
